Redlands Police to host blood drive

The Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties and the Redlands Police Officers Association invite all healthy residents to donate blood at the Redlands Police Annex, 30 Cajon St. (corner of Vine and Cajon) Thursday, Aug. 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each participant will receive a Blood Bank travel mug.
Donors must be at least 17 years of age and in good health. Donors 76 years old or older must provide the Blood Bank with annual, written permission from their physician. All prospective donors should be free of infections or illness, weigh at least 110 pounds and not at risk for AIDS or hepatitis. While helping patients, donors receive a mini physical. Donating blood takes about one hour and gives someone a lifetime.
The Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties was founded as a private, non-profit organization by the medical societies of San Bernardino and Riverside counties in 1951. The Blood Bank serves 33 medical facilities and must receive more than 400 donations daily in order to prepare 140,000 transfusions annually.
