The California Welcome Center (CWC) in San Bernardino is impacting the very competitive tourism market in California – hands down. Recent results from a report sponsored by California Tourism indicated that summer visitors to the California Welcome Centers rated the San Bernardino Center’s kiosk and website as the highest ranking in the state.
The results of the study were obtained by taking on-site surveys among a random sample of visitors in each CWC, with a total of 2, 275 completed surveys. California Welcome Centers are located throughout California, offering traveling motorists the convenience of a centralized location where they can find local and state destination lodging, recreation and activities information, along with maps, Internet access, restrooms, and souvenirs. The San Bernardino Welcome Center is one of the most recently opened sites.
Every year an estimated 100,000 visitors to search for restaurants, hotels, events, and attractions located in the inland area. The California Welcome Center is centrally located on Hospitality Lane, just north of the I-10/215 freeway interchange. Visitors are happy with how easy it is to navigate the information kiosk, so they can better explore the Inland Empire area and all its amenities.
RedFusion Media, a local web design and Internet marketing company located in Redlands, built the kiosk for the center, which includes multiple computers and a print station, giving CWC visitors access to Inland Empire attractions, hotels, restaurants, and recreational opportunities. Content is also shared with the Welcome Center from the InlandEmpire.US local directory, which is owned and maintained by RedFusion Media. This use of technology represents a growing trend – using the Internet to deliver “digital -rich” media to screens anywhere. Visitors to the area can easily access information online through the new, custom built, Internet-powered kiosk.
“Internet Marketing includes placing media in kiosks, on billboards, and smaller street and in store displays. These displays can be easily changed from a remote location. RedFusion Media is able to control and update the Welcome Center kiosk in San Bernardino from our offices in Redlands. This is a very effective way to manage advertising messages,” says Jon Burgess, Internet Manager at RedFusion Media.
“RedFusion Media is delighted to partner with the Welcome Center to provide the Internet technology and content for this terrific project,” states Ron Burgess, president. “We strongly support all efforts to communicate the region’s assets to California and the region.”
