December 26, 2006, REDLANDS, CA - The California Welcome Center located in San Bernardino is scheduled to open in February 2007. In collaboration with the San Bernardino Convention and Visitors Bureau, along with dozens of organizations interested in promoting local tourism, a commitment has been made to establish a California Welcome Center on I-10 at I-215.
The 2,500 square-foot, high profile center will include a kiosk for the estimated 100,000 visitors to search for restaurants, hotels, events, and attractions located in the San Bernardino Valley and the greater Inland Empire. RedFusion Media will provide the interior kiosk content and Internet websites for the center. Content will be shared with the center from the InlandEmpire.US local directory, which is owned and maintained by RedFusion Media.
Visitors will be able to easily navigate the information kiosk, provided by RedFusion Media, and explore the Inland Empire area and all its amenities. Directories will be developed for travel-related information, and be fed by the State of California Welcome Center website, which receives over four million hits each year. In addition, there is a multitude of statewide printed material that will be available for travelers at the Welcome Center. The California travel industry brought $88.1 billion of business to the state in 2005, an increase in 7.6 percent from 2004 (Source:www.gocalifornia.com California Travel Impacts by County report).
The new California Welcome Center located in San Bernardino is being designed to match the Route 66 and 1950s retro theme. But, with plasma screens, multi-media, and kiosks linked to local websites, along with wireless Internet access, this project will link 21st century technology to the global travel market.
“RedFusion Media is delighted to partner with the Welcome Center to provide the Internet technology and content for this terrific project,” states Ron Burgess, president. “We strongly support all efforts to communicate the region’s assets to California and the region.”
Current participants in the center include (by order of dollar amount) San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino; the Economic Development Agencies of the City and County of San Bernardino; the city of San Bernardino; National Orange Show Events Center; Big Bear Lake Resort Association; the city of Rancho Cucamonga; Century 21-Showcase Reality; Automobile Club of Southern California; the city of Redlands; Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa; Downtown Redlands Business Association; University of California, San Bernardino; San Bernardino Community College District; the University of Redlands; Wildlands Conservancy; Best Western on Hospitality Lane and the San Bernardino International Airport Authority. The Welcome Center has some additional room for sponsorship and advertising. For information contact Mary Casanova-Poland at 909-889-3980 or email at mpoland@eee.org.
